Hygge In The Early Years
Whilst we were obtaining our curiosity approach accreditation we learnt about Hygge. I had never heard of it before but some fellow practitioners told me they were also doing an accreditation on it with Hygge in the early years.
I dug deeper into Hygge because the children enjoyed this section the most.
I think the danish way of living is fantastic, everything is so calming, homely and relaxing.
The children love Hygge Friday where we bake yummy sweet or savoury treats to enjoy at the setting at snack times or to take home to share with their loved ones.
Even though it’s called Hygge Friday we bake any day of the week and why not?
The cake should be enjoyed daily!
One of the best things about being in a home-from-home setting is that we can snuggle up on the sofa together, take turns picking stories and share our thoughts from the day’s activities.
Being at one with nature is another big aspect of Hygge.
Taking the time to go outside and explore the Wooden or the local flowers together is just amazing. Some of the children can now identify the different types of birds and flowers.
